Ambrosia Medal

Wormwood ragweed, or simply ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia), erroneously called wild hemp, is a species of weed in the family Asteraceae, in the tribe Helianthinae. It is found in huge numbers in Hungary's arable fields and other disturbed areas every year.

It is one of our most well-known and controversial weeds: some people recognise it only for its bad, allergenic properties, and others revere it as a medicinal plant, consuming it regularly.

Why does this plant cause allergy symptoms in some people? One thing is for sure: farmers have never had pollen allergies or allergies to ragweed. We may have to wait decades for a clear answer, but unpleasant allergy symptoms can return year after year and it would be good to find a solution.
